My sister Carin's birthday was yesterday and we celebrated at the Wayfarer's Thursday Pot Roast Night in Cape Porpoise. Big, flavorful chunks of perfectly-cooked pot roast with side of steamed carrots and wonderfully buttery mashed potatoes. The chocolate fudge cake for dessert was also excellent. The portions were generous and the bill wasn't too bad, even with having to pick up two bottles of wine at Bradbury's.
We were sad to see Matt and Heidi head home last night, but also very happy to inherit their room. The beds are way more comfortable than the sofa bed contraption I spent the first night on.
We got food yesterday at HB Provisions, stopped at The Port Bakery and after the cleanup headed to the beach. The weather was perfect, with temps topping at 83 and a nice sea breeze keeping things cool. A heavy fog came in at about 3, ushering us back to the house for showers before dinner.
I think we're headed south today, perhaps to the zoo and butterfly preserve. And maybe Portsmouth Brewing ...
